West of Rice Lake and north of Port Hope lies the quaint small town of Bewdley which is home to a relatively small number of residents year-round. Bewdley is known for fishing and vacationing activities. It is comprised of mostly cottages, restaurants, and local town shops, but includes all amenities you could need such as a minimarket, LCBO, marina and boat launch. Naturally, the town has become an excellent area for cottage and permanent home ownership because of its ideal location, but it is also a tourist stop to restock on all your needs.
Apart from this, the township itself does offer many other things, such as a great sandy beach, Bewdley Beach, and Playground for the kids. In general, Rice Lake does have some weeds in the lake, which is why it is such a fantastic lake for fishing, but it is still a great lake for swimming with shallow and clean waters perfect for young children. Make sure always to check the swim guide to see how the water is!
Of particular interest in the town is Rhinos Roadhouse, a restaurant which is pretty historical in itself since it situated in a building that has been standing since 1870. It is always a recommended place to go to by the locals where you can grab the best BBQ wings with a good view of the lake (by the way, Rhino's restaurant has been visited by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2015!). Finally, if you're a hiker, there are short but scenic trail that leads to the lake which you can access from Cavan Road by the Bewdley Conservation Area.
