Bailieboro is a quiet and truly underrated town located north of Bewdley and closer to Peterborough. It is one of the many communities that belong to the township of Otonabee-South Monaghan. Bailieboro may be small but has everything you need for cottage life, and it is a place to consider if you are looking for a less touristy area. What makes this town stand out is it’s Ontario’s renowned delicious butter tarts. If you have a sweet tooth, one place you don't want to miss is Doo Doos bakery. They have award-winning pies and butter tarts and are always thinking of innovative yummy treats! The bakery has put Bailieboro on the map, as the town has become part of the Northumberland's Butter Tart Tour. If you have a love for antiques just next door from Doo Doos bakery is an old church that was turned into a beautiful antique store front and a yoga studio just across the street. Wine lovers, go check out the newest winery nesteled in the hills of Bailieboro and Otonabee-South called Rolling Grape Vineyard on Country Rd 2, we had the pleasure of visiting this vineyard where we met a wonderful family and enjoy lovely wine tastings while watching the beautiful sunset. Finally, for art lovers, there is a unique Zimbabwean stone sculpture art gallery, Zim Art Gallery, with an interesting backstory of how it got there. The gallery itself has one of the most comprehensive Zimbabwean sculpture collections in Canada. It is entirely different from other museums and makes for a wonderful day trip!
